CCF - Royal Air Force Section 1967-68
Results of course, examinations and interviews have again been outstanding this year. The energy and enthusiasm of all cadets has been very marked in the numerous activities of the section.
Many cadets have been before selection boards and have acquitted themselves with great credit. Prominent among these have been the following:
Sgt. M. J. KELLAWAY has been awarded a Flying Scholarship at Cambridge to commence on August 5th.
Sgt. S. B. CHEESEMAN, awarded a Flying Scholarship at Cambridge and Scholarship to Cranwell.
Sgt. D. A. LAIDLAW, awarded a Flying Scholarship at Luton.
F/Sgt. M. R. PITT, awarded a Flying Scholarship at the Gregory Flying School, Denham. He will join the R.A.F. in September as a Direct Entry pilot.
All these flying courses are for a continuous period of twenty-eight days training.
A Star Camp has been awarded to Cpl. G. P. WOODING at R.A.F. Wattisham.
The Star Camp enables the cadet to live in the Officer's Mess, work for a period in the department of his choice, and get to know something about the actual working conditions of the R.A.F.
GLIDING COURSES. A record fourteen members of the section gained their Gliding Pilot's Certificate last year. So far this year six more courses have been awarded to:

Their training will be at R.A.F. Halton.

Twenty-four R.A.F. cadets are participating in the award scheme including three at Gold Level and three at Silver Level.During the year six Silver Awards were gained. They were awarded to:-

Seventeen cadets took the examination. CadetsG. M. Tennant, M. A. Jacobs, and M. J. Galsworthy gained Distinctions. Eight cadets passed with Credit and six cadets obtained a Pass.PROFICIENCY EXAMINATION RESULTS:
Nine cadets took the examination. Cadet B. Webber gained a Distinction. Three cadets passed with Credit, four cadets obtained a Pass and one failed.Field Days this year were held at R.A.F. Bassingbourne and R. A. F. Benson. Benson provided flying in Argosy aircraft. Many junior cadets flew for the first time.
Summer Camp will be held at R.A.F. Lindholme near Doncaster from 20th July to 27th July. We hope to take thirty cadets.
ADVENTURE TRAINING IN SCOTLAND.
A small number of senior R.A.F. cadets joined cadets from the other two sections in the Joint Services scheme.TROPHY AWARDS
The inspection at th C.C.F. Review was caried out by a Senior Royal Air Force Officer. the following awards were made to R.A.F. cadets:
Peter Bancroft Trophy. Awarded to the most outstanding cadet:

Mansfield Cup. Awarded for outstanding service to the R.A.F. section.
Flight Sergeant S. J. Gallico
Garratt Cup. Awarded to the most promising junior cadet.
Cadet S. A. Leonard.
Zideman Trophy. Awarded to the most promising N.C.O.
Corporal M. J. Galsworthy
Pocock Cup. Presented this year by Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Pocock in memory of their son P/O Brian Pocock, R.A.F. who was a member of the R.A.F. section from 1960-63 and who died as the result of a car accident.
This cup was awarded to the cadet showing outstanding keenness and ability in flying. This year it was awared to:-
